Taideakseli is an extensive work of art executed in 2021. Taideakseli links already existing art to new artworks in the centre of Huittinen, forming an Art Route along the streets of the city centre. The route starts from the Sahko residential area and unites with the city’s older artworks.
The street art project was led by award-winning professional artist Teemu Mäenpää and versatile contemporary artist Petra Martinez. In addition to professional artists, locals participated in the work. The main theme of the Taideakseli is communality. Artworks are made by several people by using multiple different techniques and materials, for example wood and clay.
As a result of Taideakseli-project, the city centre has been enriched with a variety of artworks. Taideakseli’s artworks can be divided into four different sections: sculptures (wood carvings and clay birds), environmental art (flower fields and decaying trees), textile art (hand-printed fabric clips) and murals.
Some works of art can be experienced all year round, but the Taideakseli as a whole is at its best during the summer months. You are more than welcome to discover works of art during a city walk in the centre of Huittinen!
