Explore the landscapes of the Taikayöntie route from the saddle of a bicycle.
Peaceful rural scenery, cultural history, idyllic villages, and relaxing resting spots by the water.
Cycle Touring on the Taikayöntie – an experience in the heart of two regions
Set off on an unforgettable cycle tour along Taikayöntie! The route can be ridden in either direction, starting for example in Huittinen. From there it runs through the idyllic village of Punkalaidun all the way to the centre of Urjala. In addition to the main route, you can explore fascinating detours – from Punkalaidun via Murronharjuntie to Highway 2, or from the village of Puolimatka to the unique Glass Village of Nuutajärvi.
The route offers cyclists easy-going cycle paths through small towns and peaceful country roads that invite you to travel at a relaxed pace. You can complete the journey in one go, but many prefer to divide it into two days to have time to enjoy the scenery, sights and local delicacies.
Along Taikayöntie you’ll pass varied fields and forest landscapes, traditional villages, old wooden buildings and attractions steeped in culture and history: museums, churches, manor houses and Nuutajärvi, famous for its glass art. Along the way you’ll find cosy cafés where you can rest and sample local flavours, as well as tranquil rest areas surrounded by nature. At the end of the day, the clear waters of lakes and rivers invite you to take a refreshing swim at the local beaches.
There is a wide range of accommodation options: you can choose a historic stone building, a homely farm stay or a nature-friendly campsite. Each option offers its own unique atmosphere to round off your journey.
Taikayöntie is more than just a cycling route – it is a journey into living culture, beautiful nature and genuine encounters.
